Recognition

Today, as I read my e-mail, I saw one from the manager of the area of the project where I am now (here, in Finland), and also had another e-mail from the CEO of Critical Software, congratulating me, and my colleague for a job well done.

The thing is,  it’s about the third e-mail I get from the CEO congratulating me for my job this year (and one phone call IIRC), and although this is all nice and dandy, this week I know my evaluation, and quite frankly, I’ve lost my hope in it a long time ago, so this kind of e-mails start to bounce quite easy off of me.

You might get pats on the back, but the bottom line doesn’t change much.

My room mate got all excited because of the e-mail. Well, I just told him: “Don’t get your hopes to high kido… When you receive the bi-anual bonus, you also get an e-mail saying how good you are, and so they are giving you X euros. Well… Guess what. It’s a template e-mail, and everyone receives the same message.”

Still feels good though.

In case you haven’t guessed, of course I said no.

LUCKILY, I AM OLD ENOUGH TO MAKE MY OWN DECISIONS WITHOUT MY PARENTS CONSENT.

One more month?

•May 30, 2007 • 5 Comments

I was asked this morning by the Project Manager on the Space Systems Finland side if we (me and my room mate) minded staying here for 1 more month (which would make 3 in total), so apparently they are happy with our job.

He said he wanted to know our availability first, and then he would contact Critical Software to make it happen.

Handheld video

To show you that this is a truly MULTIMEDIA AND 100% INTERACTIVE BLOG (well, sort of, I suppose…), here’s a video shot by me while driving my bicycle from work to my hotel room in Espoo, Finland

Ps.: no, I don’t know the girl that is most of the time in front of me, nor have we at any time exchanged eye contact.

and sorry for the quality, but it’s hard to make a video while hand holding a mobile phone riding a bike.

oh oh oh and yes! my hair does look funny when I enter the elevator (because of the speeeeeeeeeeeeeed during the bike ride. OH YEAH!!)

I am now officially dead

So… It’s pretty cool to stay in Finland, since their houses are very well isolated, and so indoors you don’t feel the cold, right?

WHAT IF, IT’S 28º C OUT THERE?

It feels like I’m inside a oven. Air Conditioning? No! It’s always cold in here. Fans? Why?!It’s always cold in here.

damn it. I’m sweating like a pig (well almost)

What is love?

Baby don’t hurt me, don’t hurt me, no more! (you’ll understand it by the end of this entry).

So… It is uncommon for me to post during the week, because there isn’t much to report (hotel<->work).

So, this blog is about random stuff, so here they go:

  • the water thingies on the fake lake behind the hotel get turned off at 22h, and turned on at 10h
  • 90h from now (+/-) I’ll be boarding on the plane to go back to Portugal for a few days
  • I have created a variable on my QT/C++ project called goldenRetriever (odly enough it is a regular expression ;-) )
  • my roommate even makes noises while eating a BANANA!
  • weather: HOT HOT HOT right now it’s 22:16, but it’s 19º C! (though today it rained a lot for a very short period. like a tropical kind of thingy, ya now? It was raining cats and dogs!)
  • today I did my swimming once again
  • on the previous post my father suggested, as a joke I believe, that I should also start running. Well, now my girlfriend also read that, and told me that too! Damn you conspiracy!!

What is love indeed?
